Our team
Cana exists because women deserve more than symptom management. We are a team of nurses, advanced practice providers, and educators who believe fertility care should be thorough, personal, and rooted in a vision of human flourishing.
What we believe
"Women deserve care that is scientifically excellent and grounded in a vision of human flourishing — care that honors how they were made."
Cana was founded on the conviction that faith and medicine belong together — and that women deserve providers who hold both without apology.
Meet the team
Founder & Lead Provider
Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C) · Marquette Method Certified Professional · Certified FEMM Provider
Marisa is a board-certified family nurse practitioner with years of frontline experience as an emergency department nurse. Her background in medicine and ministry shapes how she practices: caring for a woman's health is an act of service that deserves both clinical excellence and genuine compassion.
A wife and mother of two boys, she uses the Marquette Method in her own family life. At Cana she offers Marquette instruction and FEMM education, with a particular passion for helping women understand the root causes of cycle irregularities and find the right next step for restorative care.
Marquette & FEMM Teacher · L&D Nurse
RN · Marquette Method Certified Professional · Certified FEMM Teacher · Future Midwife
Aniston is a labor and delivery nurse and certified fertility instructor trained in both the Marquette Method and FEMM. Her clinical work gives her a grounded perspective on postpartum fertility return, cycle transitions, and the real questions women bring into motherhood.
Drawn to the intersection of evidence-based medicine and natural fertility, she brings warmth and clinical experience to helping women understand their bodies. She is pursuing an advanced degree in midwifery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Certified FEMM Teacher · Family Scientist
PhD, Human Development & Family Science (HDFS) · Certified Family Life Educator (CFLE) · Certified FEMM Teacher
Dr. Sherman holds a PhD in Human Development and Family Science and is a certified FEMM Teacher, a pairing that lets her guide each woman through her own chart with the patience of a teacher and the precision of a researcher.
She teaches FEMM at Cana, believing your cycle is a language to be learned. Her goal is simple: that you finish understanding your body better than any app could tell you.
What guides us
Every method we teach and every recommendation we make is rooted in evidence. We are providers first, and we hold our instruction to the same clinical standard we hold our medical practice.
Cana is openly Catholic in its convictions. We believe natural family planning is part of a larger vision of human dignity and love. But we are teachers, not evangelists, and our instruction is excellent regardless of where you are on your faith journey.
You are not a case file. We take the time to understand your actual life: your cycle history, your family goals, and your circumstances. Then we provide care that fits you specifically.
Natural family planning isn't a product you buy and use in isolation. Cycles change. Life changes. We want to be a resource you can come back to, through postpartum, transitions, and whatever comes next.
